DOT Management

Navicus understands the importance of assuring that all aspects of managing DOT pre-employment and ongoing screening is compliant. We have expert staff to design and administer all aspects of your DOT program including Drug and Alcohol Testing, Physical Exams, Random Selections, Motor Vehicle and Work History Verifications.  If your employees are mandated by the Department of Transportation (DOT), Navicus is ready to assist you with understanding and implementing all requirements to ensure compliance.

DOT Driver Physical

Drivers regulated by the DOT are required to have a physical examination at least every two years. Since any medical practitioner authorized to conduct physical examinations in your state can complete these, there is often a great discrepancy in quality and completeness. The accuracy of these examinations is important for not only your compliance with regulations, but also because employers are held responsible, along with physicians, for any mistakes.

Scheduling Center Services

We also provide scheduling services for applicants and employees who need physical exams - making efficient use of your time and resources. Necessary forms and instructions are provided along with the date, time and location of where the physical will be performed. Your applicant or employee will receive special handling through this service, and you will receive automatic notification of any delinquent test results which saves you the time of having to follow-up.

Random Drug and Alcohol Management

Navicus turnkey compliance with DOT regulations 49CFR Part 40.  Our Random Drug and Alcohol Management services ensure employers conduct at least 50% of the safety-sensitive drivers for drug testing and 10% for alcohol testing each year.  We prepare annual calendar year summary reports for the FMCSA. These reports will be used to help monitor compliance and enforcement of the rules, as well as to provide data on the extent of drug and alcohol misuse and the need for any future program and regulatory changes.

Medical Review Services

All drug test results are reviewed and interpreted by a physician (Medical Review Officer (MRO)) before they are reported to the employer. If the laboratory reports a positive result to the MRO, the MRO contacts the driver (in person or by telephone) and conducts an interview to determine if there is an alternative medical explanation for the drugs found in the driver's urine specimen. If the driver provides appropriate documentation and the MRO determines that it is legitimate medical use of the prohibited drug, the drug test result is reported as negative to the employer.
